Numeric-entry (TITA / integer type) questions

No options to lean on, so build in your own checks.

With no options, you can't eliminate your way to an answer. You need your own checks.

  • Read the units and the rounding the question asks for. "In cm", "to two decimal places" and "nearest integer" are where marks are lost.
  • Check the answer independently. Use a second method, a limiting case, or plug the answer back into the original equation (see the cross-checks in the guided walkthroughs).
  • Negative marking varies. CAT TITA has none, so always attempt it. JEE Main numericals currently carry −1, so treat them like MCQs. Confirm in the latest official notification.
  • Clean numbers are a hint. If your answer is 4.8372, check whether the data was designed to give 4.8.
