NEET UG — accuracy-first methodology
About 1 minute per question with +4/−1 marking. NCERT recall wins Biology, and Physics decides the rank.
Confirm the latest pattern on the NTA NEET site. Recent papers have had 180 questions (Physics 45, Chemistry 45, Biology 90) in 180 minutes, worth 720 marks.
Pacing plan (180 minutes)
| Block | Section | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Biology (90 questions) | 70–75 minutes |
| 2 | Chemistry (45) | 40 minutes |
| 3 | Physics (45) | 50 minutes |
| 4 | Review and OMR check | 10–15 minutes |
Principles
- Biology is recall from NCERT, so speed matters. Read every statement-type option completely ("all of the above" traps).
- Negative marking is −1. With two options eliminated, a guess is worth +1.5 in expectation. With none eliminated it is close to zero, so skip.
- Physics separates the top ranks. Practise formula-plus-substitution questions to under 60 seconds each.
- Use the 1240 eV·nm shortcut and dimensional checks to avoid long arithmetic.
